Northbrook Display Suite

CAPE successfully negotiated this project through a staged approach, in parallel with the design process, to ensure this show suite was available for the client’s institutional investor event. This predetermined event date offered us no contingency for delays to the completion date. As time was critical, and the 2023 Auckland weather highly unpredictable, we decided to construct this building under a tented scaffold to ensure rain delays were minimised.

We gained possession of the site on mid-December 2022. The concrete slab was poured on Boxing Day to allow the slab to cure over the statutory holidays.

Whilst this slab was being constructed, we were measuring for material orders and preparing the structural steel shop drawings to minimise downtime between slab and structure. Timber was delivered to site to enable us to pre-nail the timber infill frames alongside other activities to ensure we had overlaps with multiple work fronts.

All of this was intended to keep time to a minimum. Once the external framing was complete and RAB was installed, we commenced with the internal finishes. Whilst unorthodox, we were able to secure Council approval for internal works to commence whilst cladding and roofing was underway, as we were not susceptible to weather.

The attention to detail on both internal and external finishes were paramount, as this building is the main sales suite for the Winton Northbrook Luxury Retirement Village development in Wynyard Quarter.

Collaborating closely with the architect and client, ensured work happened at pace but without compromising the high-end finish.
