CAPE were brought in under an ECI agreement to implement buildability solutions on this project. We recommended moving from timber to lightweight steel for speed of construction and to assist with services reticulation. This change also resulted in a 10% cost saving to the alternative. CAPE also developed the concept of modular onsite shower suites with a fibreglass base.
This was a higher density build than a normal hotel, requiring complex service coordination. CAPE also managed the process of working closely with consultants and Council to solve numerous passive fire control issues within the building.
The project involved multiple consents and stages of construction. Seismic work included the removal of all perimeter block walls to replace with light weight steel and aluminium cladding. CAPE also installed two new lift shafts and Glue Lam timber stairs as part of our scope of work.
