The Generator fitout involved the refurbishment of three floors over a 10-week period. The space was reconfigured to include reception areas, multiple individual tenancies, meeting rooms, boardrooms, kitchen and café spaces, and two bars.
Several standout design features contributed to the project receiving award nominations. These included hundreds of square metres of herringbone solid oak flooring, Autex fin and perforated GIB feature ceilings, Corian and brass bars with bronze mirror ceiling bulkheads, and oak and leather reception counters.
Bronze mirror feature wall linings were used to create a greater sense of space, while other feature walls incorporated diamond-shaped 3D leather panelling and reeded oak panels.
One of the biggest challenges, alongside the tight programme, was tying the new work into the existing finishes retained from the previous tenancy. This included matching curved veneer and solid timber window frames, fixed timber desking, existing floor tiling, and aluminium glazed partitions from discontinued systems.
The project also featured a glazed operable wall manufactured overseas that required a significant structural steel support system. CAPE assisted with redesigning the structure to ensure it integrated with the existing building. We also built a large engineered ceiling to support a suspended living plant installation, creating one of the project's standout features.
